Postby LadyKrimZen » Thu Apr 28, 2016 4:06 pm

As many know, Double Battle is extremely different to the mechanics and format of Single Battles ranging from different terminology and what exist within the format. The following contains terms that you may encounter during your time playing Double Battles or even reading up on the format.

NOTE: Guide under construction. The Following is currently a draft!

CHALK or CHALK-T (VGC FORMAT)
CHALK refers to Cressila, Heatran, Amoongus, Landorus and [Mega] Kangaskhan; refers to the 5 main Pokemon core seen in the VGC format.
The 6th Pokemon often being Sylveon, Azumarill, Miltotic or Tyranitar.

CHALK-T refers to the 6 main core of Cressila, Heatran, Amoongus, Landorus, [Mega] Kangaskhan and Thundorus. Quite common in the current VGC format.

BO1 or Single Elimination or Swiss
Best of 1 Match

BO3 (VGC FORMAT)
Best of 3 matches

VGC2016 (VGC Format)
Throwback to VGC2010 where players could use cover legendary Pokemon in the VGC format. Meaning players can use the following that are normally banned under normal VGC rules:
Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina, Zekrom, Reshiram, Kyreum, Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde
During this format, players could only use 2 cover legendary Pokemon.

VGC2010 (Previous VGC Format)
The first of it kind to allow players to use cover legendary Pokemon in the VGC format. Meaning players could use the following:
Mewtwo, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina
During this format, players could only use 1 cover legendary Pokemon.

Item Clause (VGC Format)
Item Clause prevents players from being 2 of the same item (example: no two Pokemon can hold Leftovers).
Since 2010, Soul Dew has been banned from the competition due to how insanely overpowered this item is.

Speed Tiers
Very similar to Single battles, knowing how fast each Pokemon is and what speed you need to achieve in order to do so.
Various outcomes are achieved through natures, IVS, EVs, Items, and Moves.
